Manage a CAT Mitigation

Before committing to spending money on the logistics of travel, make sure you have assignments lined up before you head to the affected area.
This way you have a head start and can start working immediately
The last thing you want to do is to spend money on hotels, gas, labor, etc and then find no work.&nbsp;
It does happen if you are not prepared with jobs lined up ahead of time, don't let it happen to you!

For Example:

<li>Have relationships with local vendors you may need - Hygienists, Equipment suppliers, Material suppliers, Temp Labor companies, etc</li>
<li>Make living arraignments - Hotels, long term rentals, etc</li>
<li>Financing- Make sure you have enough reserves to pay for employee meals(per diem), supplies, etc</li>

Evaluate any existing measures or protocols in place for CAT mitigation within your organization.
A good way to prevent sticker shock at the end of the project is to use 'Fixed Pricing', and do it in Phases.
For Example , Let them know up front what the cost will be for Day 1, then on day 2, assess the progress and do a change order for that day. This way, the client knows exactly wht the costs are daily and there is no confusion.
You can ask for progress payments as well to assure you are getting paid throughout the job.

Know the local laws where you are traveling to so make sure you are compliant with local laws pertaining to our industry.
For Example:

Create strategies and plans to mitigate the identified CAT risks.&nbsp;
This may include:
<ul>
<li>Spotting Red Flags- Don't be afraid to decline a job if you don't feel right about the Client</li>
<li>Assessing for Pre-existing damages and documenting them</li>
<li>Set up expectations with the Client up front</li>
</ul>

Share the CAT mitigation strategies with relevant stakeholders and provide necessary training to employees on their roles and responsibilities during CAT events
Have daily meetings with your staff to assure they understand your procedures and that they communicate throughout the day with management

Communicate and Train

Foster collaboration and information sharing with other organizations, industry associations, and regulatory bodies to exchange knowledge and enhance collective CAT mitigation efforts.
If possible, share and collaborate with another contractor from your area that is also deploying.

Collaborate and Share

Maintain proper documentation of the CAT mitigation strategies, actions taken, and outcomes. Report on the effectiveness of the mitigation efforts to relevant stakeholders.
Create a 'Project Binder' for each project so that everything that has to do with that job is completely documented- the 5 W's (WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and WHY).
This needs to tell the story from start to finish.
There are many software tools out there that can accomplish this.
