What you need to determine what needs removal
<ul>
<li>Visual inspection</li>
<li>Moisture Meter</li>
</ul>
Visual Inspection
<ul>
<li>As you can see below, look for discolored drywall. This is an area of concern that needs removal. Often times when drywall looks like this, it has been sitting for a while, so be mindful of the possibility of Mold growth on the back side of the drywall while removing.</li>

Use a Moisture Meter
<ul>
<li>Having a quality Moisture Meter is very important.&nbsp;</li>
<li>First find a known dry area to obtain what the 'Dry Standard', or 'typical reading' is.&nbsp;</li>
<li>This can vary by location, or by home. With that in mind, this is an important step. Use the meter to determine the extent of the damage.</li>

Determine how much drywall to remove

Tools needed:
<ul>
<li>Chalk line</li>
<li>Dust mask</li>
<li>utility knife</li>
<li>Drywall saw</li>
<li>4-6 Mil Plastic</li>
<li>Containment poles</li>
<li>Containment Zipper</li>
<li>Cleaning Supplies</li>
</ul>
Use Containment Poles to hold up the Plastic to set up the containment of the area to be removed

Use a Containment Zipper for easy access in and out of the containment area

Using a Chalk line to mark the area will help to ensure a straight cut

Always where a dust mask to keep from breathing in the drywall dust

Use a Utility knife to finish off the areas the saw wont reach (at corners).

Use a Drywall saw with a vacuum attachment if possible. Set the depth at 1/4 inch in most cases. This will avoid hitting wires, pipes, or the wall framing.

Gather tools needed to properly remove drywall

It is necessary to contain the area where you are removing Drywall. This will keep any dust from traveling throughout the home.
<ul>
<li>It is important to contain the area and protect the furniture/contents in the affected area</li>
</ul>

<li>If you have to leave it in the contained area, be sure to cover and protect it to prevent dust from getting on the furniture.&nbsp;</li>
<li>This is a very important step. If you don't do it, this opens you up for having to spend a lot of time cleaning furniture.</li>

Contain the area - Protect furniture/contents

It is very important to make straight cuts so that replacement can be done much easier.
To ensure an even/clean cut, Snap a Chalk line to mark the area needing removal.

Mark off area to be removed

Covering the floor in the contained area is important to keeping the area as clean as possible.

Carefully cut along the chalk line. Take your time to ensure a straight cut.

Remove drywall

Inspect the drywall for mold growth before cutting too far.&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>If you find mold and there is over 10 SF seal the area and contact your supervisor as this will require Mold Remediation.</li>

Stop and Inspect area behind drywall removed

If all looks good behind the drywall, continue and complete all removals as marked off.

Complete removal

Its very important to spend the time cleaning up - Leave the Home cleaner than you found it!
<ul>
<li>Make sure all Drywall remnants are vacuumed up from the wall framing, and floor.</li>
<li>Carefully Place all drywall removed in 3 mil garbage bags and seal up prior to removal from the area.</li>
<li>Leave the air scrubber in the containment for at least 24 hours to ensure all dust in captured.</li>
